PSPECTRA - MIDI Synthwave Synthesizer for PSP - App - 1.6.3 - (08/24/26)
PSPECTRA is a synthwave synthesizer for the Sony PSP. Driven over MIDI through the PSP-MIDI adapter, it turns the PSP into a five instrument sound module: three polyphonic synth voices, an arpeggiated pulse voice, and a drum machine, with a full FX and mastering chain behind them. Typical round trip latency from the DAW is 3 to 5 ms.
Instruments:
- LEAD: JP-8000 style supersaw with glide
- PULSE: pulse voice with a built in arpeggiator that follows MIDI clock from the DAW
- PAD: paraphonic saw stack through a state variable filter
- BASS: saw with sub octave
- DRUMS: 21 drums synthesized on the PSP at first boot, 8 kits (NIGHT, CHROME, BRUT, NEON, BOOM, VHS, ARENA, LIQUID), per drum tune, decay, level and pan
Processing:
- Per bus FX racks: ping-pong delay, chorus, reverb send, drive, crush, 3-band EQ, sidechain duck keyed by the kick
- Mastering section: 10-band graphic EQ, stereo width, saturator, air 4 LFOs routable to voice and FX targets
- Mixer page, dashboard with stage views, 5 panel themes
- Preset slots on the memory stick
Every parameter has a MIDI CC; the map is in the manual. MIDI
channels are remappable, drums are General MIDI on channel 10.
Requirements: PSP 1000, 2000 or 3000 with custom firmware, and the PSP-MIDI adapter. The PSP Go is not supported. PSPECTRA receives MIDI from a DAW on the adapter's USB-C port or from hardware on its TRS IN jack.
